An intelligent, intriguing mystery, beautifully produced and well acted, little to fault. Two stories are told, unravelling and intertwining at the end, it's extremely well done, and the way it was written it could almost have been written as a story for Jane Marple, her involvement seems natural, one of the better non Marple stories that was adapted. The first six episodes were all adaptations of the Miss Marple novels by Agatha Christie.

Fiona Shaw is a tremendously good actress, so charismatic and wonderfully eccentric, she's awesome as Katherine. Agatha Christies Marple is a British ITV television series with a total of 23 episodes in 6 series, beginning with The Body In The Library (2004) and ending with Endless Night (2013). Some wonderful performances, Julia McKenzie made a great fist with the lead role, a mix of softness and toughness, she played it brilliantly. The Marple series ended very strongly I thought, the previous few episodes were very strong, as was this one, only Endless Night was a little short of the mark.
Greenshaw's Folly soon becomes the scene of three deaths, guest Horace Bindler, Cracken the Butler, and Katherine Greenshaw herself, it falls on Jane Marple to unravel the mystery alongside who knows of Miss Marple by her formidable reputation. Jane takes them away to the secluded home of friend of Katherine Greenshaw, where Louisa adopts the post of Secretary. The screenplay was written by Kevin Elyot and the episode was directed by Tom Shankland. In the UK, it was broadcast on ITV on 2 January 2011. It was first released in the US on, having first been shown in Norway on 28 February 2010. That did not much good to the plausability of the plots.Jane Marple comes to the assistance of Louisa and her young son Archie, desperately escaping her violent husband Philip. Both actresses suffer from the fact that, contrary to the strict way of doing the Poirot series, much tampering with the original stories has been done for most episodes. They are completely different personalities, and while McEwan looks mischievous, McKenzie looks as if she has terrible toothache., which makes it painful to watch her. The screenplay was written by Russel Lewis and the episode was directed by Andy Hay. Who ever decided to have Julia McKenzie succeed her, when McEwan decided to drop out of the series (probably for health reasons), must have been out of his mind. The Pale Horse is the first episode of the fifth series of Agatha Christies Marple.It was broadcast on ITV by Granada Television on 21 July 2010.
She has the right wit and looks as if she is enjoying every moment, her eyes sparkle when she has an idea. Geraldine McEwan is by far the better of the two actresses playing Ms.
Marple, on the other hand, is an amateur and an old lady, a more overlooked person who works in the background. The role was taken over in 2009 by Julia McKenzie, who, as of the date of this review, is the current ITV Miss Marple.

First of all, comparing it with the Poirot series featuring David Suchet is quite unfair since Suchet's character as a famous detective is always on the forefront of the stories, as in the books. I have to disagree with one of the other reviewers comments on the actresses playing Ms. Celebrated actress Julia McKenzie takes on the role of world-famous crime writer Agatha Christie’s shrewd and inquisitive Miss Jane Marple in this stunning set of murder mysteries.
